Meet Denise a Southern girl who loves to cook.
Meet Darby my cooking partner and emotional support. He is always there for me when I make a mistake.
I began cooking when I was eight years old. My favorite to cook was chocolate fudge from a recipe in my mother’s Joy of Cooking. I also had my own Betty Crocker’s Cookbook for Boys and Girls. I learned to make cakes where I would always use their Penuche Icing recipe. It even had the recipe for Creamed Dried Beef, which was our family go to meal for the day before pay day. As my first cookbook, it served me well. At age 12, I began cooking our family meals five days of the week. That meant I no longer had to do dishes and cleanup. I love trying new recipes and inventing my own versions. As I began to age I started shifting my meals to healthy ingredients. I choose to use organic foods when available. I am an avid fan of Food Network and dream of the day I could be a chef on Chopped. Even though I try to cook healthy these days, I still keep comfort and fun foods in my menus. I enjoy entertaining my friends with my favorite dishes. I hope you enjoy my blog where I will share my menus, recipes and experiences.
