Easy Broccoli Casserole

Easy Broccoli Casserole

This is not only an easy broccoli casserole, but also a tasty dish.  You will want to make this a regular for your menus.

This is a great recipe for a beginning cook.  The first step is to wash your broccoli.  Next you will cut the flowerets from the broccoli stems.  Cut the flowerets into 1 inch pieces.  This will allow the broccoli to cook faster and is a bite size piece.  Save these stems for a later time to use in slaw or stir fries.  See my video on How to Use Broccoli Stems.

The flour in the recipe will end up mixing with the milk during baking and create our sauce.  The cheese is also an important ingredient for adding taste.  Having cheese as an ingredient almost always guarantees that children will eat their broccoli.  The recipe here calls for cheddar cheese.  I like to mix it up and sometimes use smoked cheddar.  Also adding a little parmesan cheese makes for a great flavor.

Ingredients for Easy Broccoli Casserole

The breadcrumbs are made from stale bread.  If your bread is fresh, you can always toast it.  The bread should be torn into ¼ inch or smaller pieces.  The butter that is placed on top of the ingredients in the pan will melt and cause the bread pieces to become crunchy.  I hope you enjoy this easy broccoli casserole as much as I do.
