Phyllo cups are small, crispy pastry cups made from phyllo dough. It is often used in Greek and Middle Eastern cuisine. Phyllo cups can be filled with a variety of sweet or savory ingredients. They are a popular party appetizer or snack.
Servings: 36 mini cups
½ package of phyllo dough equals 15 sheets
¼ cup melted butter
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Unfold the phyllo dough placing it on a baking sheet. Cover it with wax paper and then lay across the top a wet dish towel. This will keep the sheets of phyllo from drying out as you work. First place a sheet on a work surface. Brush the sheet with butter. Repeat with another sheet of phyllo dough. Continue layering the sheets of phyllo dough, brushing each sheet with butter until you have 5 or 6 layers. Cut the stacked sheets of phyllo dough into squares that are slightly larger than the muffin tin cups, about 3 ½ inches. Place a square of phyllo dough in each muffin tin cup. Bake the phyllo cups for 6 to 10 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Watch them closely so as not to over brown. Let the phyllo cups cool slightly before filling them with your favorite filling.
