Hand Pies – A Great Appetizer

Your guests will love these easy hand pies.  They are even a great dinner meal for kids and family.

These hand pies are going to become one of your favorite appetizers to serve your guests.  There is no mess for your guests when they handle the pies.  The kids really enjoy this hamburger treat. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. 

Start by browning your bacon bits and set aside to drain.  Next brown your ground beef in the bacon drippings.  Break the meat into small pieces.

Add onion and cook until translucent.  Add the garlic to the meat mixture and cook for one minute. 

Remove the meat mixture from the heat.  Stir in the bacon and set aside for later.

On a floured surface roll out biscuits until thin.

Spoon some meat mixture into the center of the rolled biscuit.  Give a squirt of mustard, add a pickle and top with cheese. 

Fold the biscuit over the ingredients and seal the edges by pressing between your fingers.

Using a fork make an imprint on the edges to further seal. 

Place the pie onto an ungreased baking sheet.  Poke air holes in the pie using a fork.  Brush the pie with melted butter.  Continue to make pies with the remainder of the biscuits.  Bake the pies in the oven for 20 to 25 minutes.  The pies are best with thoroughly browned making a crispy crust.  Serve hot with ketchup and mustard.

2 cans of biscuits
3 slices of bacon, cut into small pieces
1 lb. ground beef
½ cup onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
½ tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. freshly ground pepper
Dijon Mustard
Dill Pickle slices
¾ cup cheddar cheese, shredded
3 tbsp. butter, melted

Preheat Oven to 375 degrees. Brown the bacon in a large skillet. Drain the bacon and set aside. Add ground beef, browning and breaking into small pieces. Add onion and cook until translucent. Add the garlic to the meat mixture and cook for one minute. Remove the meat mixture from the heat. Stir in the bacon and set aside for later. On a floured surface roll out biscuits until thin. Spoon some meat mixture into the center of the rolled biscuit. Give a squirt of mustard, add a pickle and top with cheese. Fold the biscuit over the ingredients and seal the edges by pressing between your fingers. Using a fork make an imprint on the edges to further seal. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Poke an air hole in the top with the fork and paint with melted butter. Make up the rest of the biscuits into pies and place on the baking sheet. Bake the pies for 20 to 25 minutes until nicely browned. Serve with mustard and ketchup.
