My moma’s Thanksgiving stuffing is made with all the classic ingredients: stale bread, onions, celery, butter, and herbs. A great comfort food.
Start by preheating your oven to 250 degrees F. Next take your bread and cut into cubes. Spread the bread cubes out on a baking sheet and bake for 10 to 15 minutes until they form a crust on the outside.

Now raise the heat in the oven to 350 degrees F.
Now prepare your onion and celery by chopping them into small cubes. Melt your butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and celery and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Mince your fresh sage, parsley and thyme. Add these herbs to the mixture. Next add salt and pepper to your taste.

Use some of the butter from your melted butter mixture to grease your baking dish. This will help to give a nice outer crispy texture.

Put bread cubes into a large bowl. Pour the butter mixture over the bread cubes and toss until coated. Pour in chicken broth and stir until evenly moistened.

Transfer stuffing to a greased baking dish. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until golden brown and heated through.
Tips:
- For a richer flavor, use chicken stock instead of broth.
- You can also add other ingredients to your stuffing, such as oysters, sausage, apples, or cranberries.
- For a crispy top for your stuffing, bake at least 40 minutes.
